The Camino Ignaciano, or Ignatian Way, begins at the birthplace of Ignatius of Loyola in Spain’s Basque Country, in a village near the small town of Azpeitia. From there, the route passes through picturesque mountains, deserts, and plains before ending in the town of Manresa, near Barcelona.
The Camino follows the 640 km (400-mile) pilgrimage route taken by Íñigo López de Loyola (who later became Saint Ignatius of Loyola) in 1522, as he traveled from his home in the Basque Country to Montserrat and Manresa.

Day 1 - Welcome to Loyola
- Arrival in Loyola, Spain
- Visit to the Sanctuary of Loyola.
- Celebrate a spiritual Mass

- Overnight in Loyola.
Day 2 – Visit to Loyola
Breakfast at your accommodation.
Optional activities:
Training/rehearsal session, Sports match/Musical performance, Spiritual activityWalk the first stage of the Ignatian Way from Loyola to Zumarraga (approximately 4-hour walk).
Day 3 – Following in the Footsteps of St. Ignatius. Arrival in Zaragoza
- Depart from Loyola and follow in the footsteps of St. Ignatius.
- Visit the Sanctuary of Arantzazu.
- Optional activities:
Spiritual, educational, or sports activity in Arantzazu. - Visit Javier Castle.
- Hike a section of the Ignatian Way, descending through the Basque mountains from Arantzazu to Araia.
Day 4 – Visit to Zaragoza
- Breakfast at your accommodation.
- Visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar.
- Optional activities:
Training / Sports event / Musical performance / Spiritual activity. - Visit local Roman ruins.
- Visit the Aljafería Palace.
Day 5 - From Zaragoza to Montserrat
- Private transfer to Montserrat.
- Optional activities:
- Walk a section of the Ignatian Way through the Monegros Desert (estimated 4-hour walk).
- En-route visit to the Sanctuary of St. Peter Claver in Verdú.
Day 6 – Visit to Montserrat
- Visit the Montserrat Abbey.
- Optional activities:
- Attend Mass at Montserrat Abbey.
- Sports event / Musical performance.
- Spiritual activity.
- Hiking in the Montserrat Mountain Park.
Day 7 – Visit to Manresa
- Morning visit to the Cave of St. Ignatius in Manresa.
- Optional: Spiritual activity and group lunch.
- Private transfer to Barcelona.
- Group dinner.
- Overnight in Barcelona.
Day 8 – Visit to Barcelona
- Breakfast at your accommodation.
- Visit Ignatian Barcelona (including a guided walking tour of the Gothic Quarter and a visit to Santa María del Mar Church).

Day 9 – Last Day in Barcelona
